Cap Rock Energy
Serving Energy Needs of Rural Texans Since 1939
Cap Rock Energy Corporation (the “Cap Rock”) began as an electric cooperative in 1939. We are the successor in interest to Cap Rock Electric Cooperative, Inc., who provided electric service to rural customers throughout West Texas. Through our predecessor, we operated as an electric utility for over sixty years and have grown from a small West Texas provider to one now servicing over 35,000 meters in 28 counties in Texas.
Cap Rock issued stock to public shareholders on February 8, 2002 and was listed on the American Stock Exchange on March 14, 2002. It began operating as a public utility regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas on September 1, 2003. Cap Rock has operating divisions in the Midland-Odessa and Colorado City areas of West Texas, around Brady in Central Texas and in Hunt and Collin counties in North Texas, an area that is near the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Cap Rock also operates the City of Farmersville municipal system.
Continental Energy Systems, LLC is the sole share owner of Cap Rock Energy. Cap Rock Energy is now a privately owned corporation and its shares are no longer publicly traded.
